Craig Sultan

Managing Director of Banking

Craig Sultan is a Managing Director of banking at Oracle Capital with a focus on clean and renewable energy technologies. Mr. Sultan brings with him over 25 years of investment banking, institutional investment research, operational, and technical engineering experience. Mr. Sultan has advised and completed over $1 billion in more than 40 transactions and has worked with companies and investors from around the globe including Asia, U.S., Europe, and the Middle East.  Transactions completed include: water technologies, advanced batteries, efficient lighting, power management for the grid, building lighting control systems, electric vehicles, fuel cells, thin film solar, concentrated solar, solar ribbon technology, electric vehicle systems and integration, biofuels (first and second generation technologies), nano-technologies, sustainable building technologies, as well as a number of wireless and data communications companies.

Mr. Sultan was previously the CEO of Worldwide Capital Group LLC (WCG), an advisory and investment banking firm focused on cleantech and renewable energy companies. Prior to WCG, Mr. Sultan was Global Head of the Energy Group at ThomasLloyd Capital, LLC (TLC), a private equity firm based in Zurich, Switzerland, where he launched the firm’s investment banking practice and completed seven of the firm’s eight transactions within 18 months for alternative fuels, energy efficiency, and next generation vehicle companies. At TLC, Mr. Sultan was also a Principal in the launch of a China-based clean energy technology fund and obtained over $50M in commitments. Mr. Sultan launched the wireless communications banking practice and then the Next Generation Energy franchise at Merriman Curhan Ford & Co., the latter which comprised nearly one-third of the entire banking practice during the firm’s first three years of business. Among the over 20 transactions completed in cleantech, Mr. Sultan led the teams on the $25M of investments in the Series A & B rounds for Fisker Automotive (electric vehicles), $80M for solar plants at Energy Conversion Devices (ENER), $20M for lithium ion battery development for electric vehicles at Ener1, Inc. (HEV), and $15M for Beacon Power (BCON), grid management.

Mr. Sultan began his career as a technical product manager in data communications and software development within the defense aerospace industry and spent almost nine (9) years as an institutional sell-side securities analyst in technical systems and communications technologies at such firms as Montgomery Securities (Banc of America Securities), Pacific Growth Equities (Wedbush Morgan), Unterberg Harris, and C.E. Unterberg, Towbin. He subsequently founded Worldwide Capital Partners LLC, which provided financial, strategic, and Investment Banking advisory services to domestic and international businesses with offices in San Francisco and New York.

Mr. Sultan holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in finance and management from Columbia University. He holds a Master of Science (MSE) degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science (BSE) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University.
